Selected Listing of Major Projects

 

The following are just some of the projects completed by RODI Systems.  Please contact us if you would like specific information on how we successfully completed the projects or if you have a specific application needing our expertise.

 

Client:  AES Deepwater, Inc.

Location:  Pasadena, Texas

Description:  Renovation of control system for ion exchange unit consisting of three 600 gpm trains.  Each train consisted of primary cation, primary anion, and mixed bed vessels.  The original monitoring and control system was based on an Allen-Bradley PLC 2 and various analog meters.  The new system provided by RODI consisted of an Allen-Bradley PLC 5 linked via the AB Data Highway to an industrial PC running RSView man machine interface (MMI) software.  This allowed complete computer control of the ion exchange units both for operation and regeneration.  The new computerized system also provided for alarm logging, data logging, and data trending.

 

Client:  AES Deepwater, Inc.

Location:  Pasadena, Texas

Description:  Addition of local I/O panels to monitor and control a reverse osmosis system (including pretreatment) added to the ion exchange system described above.  These panels included remote I/O modules connected to the PLC 5 originally installed under the previous project.  Configuration of the RSView was changed to incorporate the addition of the RO and RO pretreatment.

Location:  Egypt

Description:  Controls programming, startup and troubleshooting of two RO based waste water recovery systems.  These systems involved extensive pretreatment steps including dissolved air flotation. This project involved programming and troubleshooting logic programs in three separate PLCs used in the two treatment systems.

 

Client:  Southern Company Services

Location:  Birmingham, Alabama

Description:  Design and fabrication of a PC based monitoring and control system for an industrial RO unit used for preparation of boiler make up water.  This system included a custom-programmed panel-mounted PC with ISA type I/O.  The system was designed to not only control the RO unit but also log and graphically display normalized operating data.

Description: Design and fabrication of a PC based monitoring and control system for an industrial RO unit used for preparation of boiler make up water.  This system included a custom-programmed panel-mounted PC interfaced with a RODI Systems AquaLynx® monitoring unit.  The system was designed to not only control the RO unit but also log and graphically display normalized operating data.

 

Client:  Seaworld of Florida

Location:  Orlando, Florida

Description:  Design, fabrication, and startup of a seawater RO system.  This system was used for maintaining the salinity of the seawater in the killer whale habitat.  The RO was built on a fiberglass skid and incorporated two multi-stage centrifugal pumps in series as opposed to a single positive displacement pump.  The RO unit included a PC based monitoring and control system.

Location:  Orlando, Florida

Description:  Design and fabrication of a PLC-based RO monitoring and control system.  This system was designed for a seawater RO unit being used to control salinity in various animal habitats of the marine park.  The system included a Siemens PLC and a mimic panel of the RO system all combined into one panel-mounted unit.

 

Client:  Nortel North America

Location:  Nepean, Ontario

Description:  Assisted the client in interfacing a reverse osmosis unit with the central building control system in a semi-conductor fabrication facility.  This required the use of a panel-mounted PC which interfaced with the Landis & Staefa building control network.  In addition to providing the control panel with the PC hardware, RODI Systems provided consulting and startup assistance to complete the project.

 

Client:  Seven Seas Water Corporation

Location:  St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

Description:  Design and fabrication of a micro-processor based monitoring system for a 40 gpm seawater RO system.  System included modem communication for remote monitoring as well as a local panel-mounted printer for data download.

Location:  St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

Description: Design and fabrication of a PLC-based monitoring and control system for a 70 gpm seawater RO system.  System included monitoring and control panel, motor control panel, and a separate enclosure holding a full-size printer for data logging and modem for remote monitoring.

Location:  Los Cabos, Mexico

Description:  Design, programming, and fabrication of monitoring and control systems for three separate seawater RO units.  Systems featured Modicon PLCs communicating with a Telemechanique Magelis HMI using Modbus protocol.

 

Client: Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority

Location:  Healy, Alaska

Description:  Provided troubleshooting services for a 200 gpm RO and mixed bed treatment system for boiler makeup at a 120 megawatt power plant.  Troubleshooting included extensive analysis of the Allen-Bradley PLC 5 based control system.

 

Client:  Siemens Westinghouse

Location:  Merida, Mexico

Description:  Provided startup services for a 400 gpm RO and mixed bed treatment system for boiler makeup at a 200 megawatt power plant.  Startup required analysis and modification of the PLC 5 program used to control the system.

 

Client:  Newport News Shipbuilding

Location:  Newport News, Virginia

Description:  Design of a seawater RO monitoring system for use aboard the CVNX class aircraft carrier and the Virginia class fast attack submarine.

 

Client:  Water King

Location:  Duson, Louisiana

Description:  Design, programming, and fabrication of two control systems for industrial water softeners.  Systems included Rockwell ControlLogix hardware with Allen-Bradley Panelview 550 HMIs.

 

Client:  Dow FilmTec

Location:  Orange County, California

Description:  Design, programming, and installation of a monitoring and control system in FilmTec’s mobile RO pilot plant.  This plant was used in a performance study to demonstrate the use of FilmTec’s membranes for a proposed expansion of the Orange County water reclamation project.  The monitoring and control system is rather extensive considering the size of the plant.  Based upon an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1500, it provides multiple PID loops for flow and pressure control in the RO.  The system also logs all operating data and provides for remote data retrieval via modem.

Location:  Bosnia

Description:  Design and fabrication two monitoring systems to monitor pH, salinity, and turbidity of drinking water.  These systems were designed to monitor the water used by the U.S. military personnel stationed in Bosnia.

 

Client:  US Filter

Location:  Colorado Springs, Colorado

Description:  Design and fabrication of an OEM monitoring and control system for US Filters standard line of commercial and light industrial RO systems.  This product included features found in RODI’s standard product line such as data logging and alarm logging.  The product was private labeled to US Filter’s specifications and was designed to meet UL and FDA requirements.

Description:  Design and pilot testing of a 1200 gpm RO system for treating municipal wastewater effluent for use as boiler makeup in a 100 megawatt power plant and adjacent oil refinery.

Description:  Startup and troubleshooting of a UF/RO system used for reclamation of oil field produced water.

Description:  Design and fabrication of 120 gpm RO unit treating surface water from the Channel Industrial Water Association (CIWA).  System also included an inclined plate clarifier, and multi-media filtration.  RODI also added local I/O panels to the plants existing Allen-Bradley control system to monitor and control the RO system (including pretreatment).  These panels included remote I/O modules connected to the PLC 5 originally installed under the previous project.  Configuration of the RSView was changed to incorporate the addition of the RO and RO pretreatment.

Description:  Refurbished a seawater RO system used to control salinity in various animal habitats of the marine park.  The project included replacing the existing control system with one of RODI’s AquaLynx® LX control units.

Description: Assisted in refurbishing a containerized 80 gpm seawater RO system.  The refurbished system included energy recovery and modem communication for remote monitoring and data download.

Location:  Newport News, Virginia

Description:  Design of a seawater RO monitoring system for use aboard the CVNX class aircraft carrier and the Virginia class fast attack submarine.

Description:  Design and fabrication of a trailer-mounted portable seawater RO system.  The 50 gpm system had two membrane passes to insure permeate quality.  The system included one of RODI’s AquaLynx® monitoring and control systems.

Location:  Austin, Texas

Description:  Design, startup, and troubleshooting of a 120 gpm RO system with UF pretreatment.  The RO permeate was treated further with ion exchange and used as boiler feed.  Surface water with high turbidity was used as the feed source.  RODI was also responsible for the design, fabrication, installation, programming, and startup of the PLC based control system used on the UF/RO.

Description:  Design and fabrication of a trailer-mounted portable seawater RO system.  The system included one of RODI’s AquaLynx® monitoring and control systems.

 

Client:  Ripley’s Aquarium

Location:  Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Description:  Design and fabrication of a 5 gpm seawater RO system used to control salinity in various marine habitats.  The unit was mounted on a fiberglass skid and controlled with one of RODI’s AquaLynx® monitoring and control systems.

Description:  Refurbished an existing 80 gpm seawater RO system.  The project included replacing the existing control system with one of RODI’s AquaLynx® LX control units.

Description:  Containerized desalinaton system incorporating media filtration pretreatment.  System provides utility water to power plant.  Fast-track project delivered within four weeks of receipt of order.

Location:  Scottsbluff, Nebraska

Description:  Skid mounted waste water treatment system utilizing tubular ultrafiltration and two pass reverse osmosis for the treatment and reuse of hot waste water from a wool dyeing operation.

Description:  Containerized desalination system incorporating media filtration and ultrafiltration pretreatment technologies.

Location:  Southeast Texas

Description:  Two million GPD containerized brackish water RO system for treatment of low pressure boiler feed water.  System comprised of four 40 ft containers.  Fast-track project delivered within sixteen weeks of receipt of order.

Description:  Containerized membrane bioreactor for treatment of domestic waste from oil and gas exploration man camp.

Description:  Design and manufacturing of a full line of OEM controllers for aquatic applications.  Project scope included programming and UL/CE certification.
