Recently, Thomas and the Internal Trade Administration shared an article highlighting how RODI Systems has become a worldwide provider of desalination and containerized water treatment systems, working to bring clean water technology to regions all over the world.
RODI Systems now offers a lab-scale test unit for the Cembrane silicon carbide ceramic membrane (www.cembrane.com). The lab-scale unit makes it possible to do preliminary testing on small sample volumes. It is particularly useful for determining filtrate quality without conducting larger scale pilot testing.

This month, RODI Systems completed this submerged ceramic microfiltration system for treating wastewater from a yarn mill. The system utilizes Cembrane silicon carbide membrane and will be replacing an older tubular UF system that didn't stand up well to the frequent chemical cleaning necessary in this application. Filtrate from this system will be further processed by reverse osmosis with the RO permeate being used as boiler feed.

RODI Systems’ Ceramic Membrane Bioreactor (CMBR) has been in operation at the Miocene Winery near Napa, California, for nearly a year. Utilizing Cembrane silicon carbide ceramic membrane, the Miocene unit is processing wastewater with BOD5 (5-day biochemical oxygen demand) as high as 6,000 mg/l with no detectable BOD5 or suspended solids in the filtered effluent. One of the concerns with containerized water treatment systems is the ability to service large pumps inside the container. Here at RODI Systems, we always locate large pumps near the ends of the container where they can be reached with a special boom like the one shown here.
